Why GRiT?

The GRiT (Girls Riding Together) program is a NICA national initiative aimed at increasing the overall participation rate of female student-athletes and female coaches across NICA to 35% by 2025.

We all know that girls are stronger when we support each other and lift each other up, and with that the McQueen Knightriders GRiT program empowers female student-athletes to mentor other female student-athletes across the team. Setting time aside for “girls only” events allows our female student-athletes and coaches to get to know each other and strengthen our mountain biking community.

The McQueen Knightriders Mountain Bike Team is recruiting girls in grades 5-12 who want to bike, race, and have lots of fun together! We’re also recruiting female coaches to join the team, and are encouraging all moms, older sisters, and grandmas to consider joining as a coach. All abilities are welcome to join, from beginner to advanced. We have lots of fun activities planned for the 2024 season. We will finalize activities, dates, and times soon! Some activities include:

  • Bring a Friend with Popsicles at the Bike Park
  • Get to Know You Tie Dye Sock Making
  • Moms and Daughters Ride with Mechanic Tips
  • Ice cream Sundae Adventure Ride Fun Day
